But you will be shocked to hear that the cast and crew of the biggest and the richest movie in the history of Indian cinema, didn’t even get half of what our actors get. A story about the salaries of Baahubali cast is doing the rounds and the figures will force you to do a double take. But interestingly, it is the director Rajamouli who took the largest share in the pie and it is totally fair. And guess what? Such a thing will never happen in Bollywood and guess that’s one of the reasons why Baahubali can never be made here. Anyway, coming back to their pay-cheques, let’s take a look at it one at a time…
The man behind it all took home Rs 28 crore, the largest share in the pie. It is only befitting that Rajamouli got the highest paycheque. He has managed to make something Bollywood has been trying to do since forever. Using a period film to prove to the world what India can make, deserves a huge round of applause. DNA has also reported that the director will get profit share percentage for the film. Guess now he will be the go-to filmmaker for anyone who wants to make a film like Baahubali.
Yes, that’s what reports suggest was Prabhas’ salary for the film. Among the cast members, he has been paid the most. With the help of two movies only, he has turned into a latest girl crush. If you just took offence to the fact that we suggested he is only two-films old, let us clarify that you are getting it all wrong. Prabhas was a South superstar all this while but with Baahubali series, he has become a Pan-India girl crush.
Bhallaldeva’s astute character was perfectly showed off by Rana Daggubati in both the films. Now if we think, we couldn’t have thought of a better casting for the role. But he got all of Rs 15 crore for his role in the film, which is slightly unfair we feel. What is a protagonist without a strong and almost overpowering antagonist? Would Baahubali be a great warrior had he not had a commendable opponent in Bhallaldeva? Time to ponder…
The pay disparity between actors and actresses in India is a huge challenge and Tammannah’s Rs 5 crore payslip for working in India’s biggest movie says it all. Yes, we agree that she hardly had anything to do in the second movie, but you cannot disregard the fact that she was an important character in the film.
