Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai starts with the family all set for the havan with the Singhanias too joining them. As guru ji is in New York the havan is to be conducted through the online media and the spoeakers are installed throughout the house. Dadi(Swati Chitnis) asks Aditya(Romit Sharma) for Keerthi(Mohena Singh), he lies that Keerthi is sleeping as she could not sleep properly the night before. The family is angry with Keerthi and Aditya enjoys the limelight. Naira(Shivangi Joshi) asks the guruji before the havan begins about a certain fear of hers and how should she get rid of it. Guruji explains that fear is the major enemy man has to fight once over it no other thing can ever overpower a man. Naira hopes that this message reaches the right ears –Keerthi. Naira gives Kartik( Mohsin Khan) courage and says Keerthi may fight her own battle and they might not have to do anything for her.
As the havan begins Aditya walks off inside as Naira notices this she gets worried about what he is up to now. She decides to do something this time without upsetting the family again. There Keerthi feels a courage filling her from inside as she watches her wounds in the mirror. She thinks it is time she does something for herself. She piles up the pain killers in her hands and walks down. Aditya who is relaxing on the couch inside is taken aback by the painkillers thrown on his face. Keerthi asks him if he has seen these medicines before. She gives him an ultimatum to stop the torture. She says she would trust him if he says he would be good with her in the furture but of no she will not take this any further. Aditya gets infuriated by her being so vocal he threatens her aloud and exactly then Naira stops disconnects the audio from the online havan.
As Aditya picks up a nearby showpiece to hit Keerthi, Manish(Sachin Tyagi) and Kartik(Mohsin Khan) stop him. Manish threatens Aditya that if he touches his daughter one more time he would break his legs. Kartik consoles Keerthi as Naira reveals all the truth before the family. She tells the family how even during the marriage Keerthi was constantly tortured by Aditya. Kartik and Naksh(Rishi Dev) support her with their inputs as much as they know. Manish and Swarna(Parul Chauhan) ask Aditya to leave as they had expected him to respect their daughter as they respect him. Manish asks Aditya to never come back as he has no relationship further with this family. Aditya looks at Dadi but does not find a supporter. Aditya leaves and Keerthi breaks down crying as the family try to take in, what just happened.
Precap: Dadi is worried about Keerthi’s future, she tells Manish that they should once speak to Aditya but Manish would not have a word of it. Dadu then tries to convince Keerthi to just speak to Aditya once as she does this Kartik and Naira watch her from the door stunned.
